Papo’s Bagels, London E8

After helping Papo’s Bagels with the design of their bakery, Studio C102 were asked to develop a proposal for their bagel shop off Shacklewell Lane in Dalston.

We sought to bring a sense of enjoyment and animation to the utility of traditional bagel shops by opening the shop and café to the commercial bakery at the rear. Red mesh screens separate the two areas while painted timber frames hold the primary elements of the café against each wall. On one side a bench with a tiled backdrop, on the other the service counter, retail area and menu board. The design utilises off-the-shelf materials that can be procured and installed with ease to make self-build possible.
