Museums for Climate Action - Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)

Reimagining Museums for Climate Action is an AHRC funded research project and exhibition for COP26, inspiring radical change in museums to address the climate crisis. The project began life as a design and ideas competition, launched on International Museum Day 2020.

Studio C102, in collaboration with Mobile Studio Architects, was among the selected teams in the international design competition that invited proposals with the aim to "unsettle and subvert the very foundations of museological thinking to support and encourage meaningful climate action".

Our concept, The Museum of Unrepresented Voices, proposed a new kind of museum for climate action. It is people-centred and does not have a permanent building. Instead, it has a simple manifesto:
1 – This is a collective issue
2 – History does not belong to us
3 – The artefact can no longer take precedence
